Why did you join Spooner?
I joined Spooner in 2014 as an apprentice, as part of my apprenticeship I worked in different departments which were beneficial in providing me an understanding of how the areas work together. I completed my apprenticeship in 2018, joining the Assembly Department as a Skilled Operative.
What is a typical day like?
A typical day as a Skilled Operative involves building machinery from scratch, assembling machinery or testing fitting machinery ahead of the machine being shipped to our customer’s site. I have had the opportunity to be trained up to deliver crane training and I regularly deliver two-day crane training courses to all new starters in the factory. On particular projects I have worked on customer sites, travel to sites in countries such as Belgium, France, Spain and Switzerland and Belgium.
What do you enjoy about working at Spooner?
I enjoy working for Spooner because of the family feel of the Company, in the assembly department we look after each other and it is a real team environment.
